SIMULTANEOUS ELECTIONS FOR WHOLE INDIA. JAMILI ELECTIONS AGAIN IN NEWS.

Hi guys,  hope you are doing well.

Today let's all discuss the simultaneous elections in India. As the BJP party agenda to win elections as mentioned in their manifesto. When it is going to happen and what are its cons and pros.

In this, I am going to present to you the complete details of what Jamili elections are and also why we are failing in conducting Jamili elections, and why we are unable to conduct simultaneous elections in Central as well as in states.

What was the present scenario of the Jamili elections?

What was the status of the BJP government is planning to conduct Jamili elections in 2022 or 2024??

On the topic…

In India, we have got very much familiar with the frequent elections because these frequent elections will alter our lives and our society.

This meanwhile, we do not even think about why in our country simultaneous elections are not happening in which every state has a different election time.

WHAT IS JAMILI ELECTIONS

Jamili means a couple or pair. Jamili elections refer to the idea of "one nation - one election".

Therefore Jamili elections refer to the concept of "one nation - one election".

In the Jamili elections, the elections of Loksabha, assemblies, and local bodies for all states at once have to be held as stipulated phase-wise.

That means in simple, voters will cast their vote for electing members of the Lok Sabha and state assemblies on a single day at the same time but happens in stage wises.

IN FUTURE WHEN WILL THE JAMILI ELECTIONS BE CONDUCTED. DO JAMILI HAPPEN IN 2022 OR 2024?

In India, there are 12 States which have faced the election polls in 2019 and the states are viz Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim Telangana, Haryana, Jharkhand Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, and Rajasthan.

So to synchronize all these states to all states to conduct simultaneous elections. The political consensus and extension term for up to six months.  Also According to these amendments need to be made to the constitution of India.

On the other hand, the elections of other than these states in legislative assemblies and union territories will be synchronized by the end of 2021 then finally to elections to Lok Sabha.

And for all legislative assemblies and union territories legislative will be held simultaneously from 2024. As per data of the central government.

It is also clearly stated in the manifesto of the BJP, that is the idea of Jamili elections in India. In the coming years, they are planning to conduct.

Now let's see what are the pros and cons of the jamili elections.

ADVANTAGES OF JAMILI ELECTIONS

In holding of Jamili elections the government can save thousands of crores which will be spent on election expenditure. Because all the mechanisms will be complete at once. In-state as well as in the center.

There will be no doubt that Jamili elections will not disturb the society in terms of holding rallies on-road and making a lot of nuisance in the streets and holding campaigns and all these things will be avoided. Moreover, Jamili makes a nuisance but it will be less as compared to the frequent elections.

People will have their clear opinions on choosing different levels of government.

Frequent elections will impact The functioning of essential services.

And also jamili elections will save time and energy.

The frequent elections create compulsions for the government to take with decisions to influence voters.

Jamili elections will help the ruling party to focus solely on government management instead of being constantly involved in election codes.

It will continue its programs and policies and we have an efficiency of governance without any delays because the next elected government may or may not implement the past laws passed by the past government.

DISADVANTAGES OF JAMILI ELECTIONS

If Jamili elections take place, then elections will be held at once so all political parties will use their Treasure one at a time to influence and to win the elections.

It will be tough for the Election Commission of India to hold the election within the prescribed duration and code of conduct.

These simultaneous elections perhaps may reduce the importance given to the state elections. This concept of federalism May rises up.

An analysis study done by IDFC Institute states that on average there is a chance of 77% of an Indian voter will get influence to vote for the same party for both Central and state when the simultaneous collections happen. Which is very harmful to the nations.

REASONS FOR SIMULTANEOUS FOR NOT HAPPENING IN INDIA

Simultaneous elections are not happening due to,

Earlier in 1952,1957,1962,1967, the elections were used to conduct simultaneously. In the Centre as well as in the States.

But, for a change in 1968-1969, there was a small change; that is, the Lok Sabha got dissolved before the completion of its total tenure.

Subsequently, premature elections to Lok Sabha and assemblies were conducted at that time the government lost the confidence of the house. From here we are not conducting simultaneous elections.

Article 83(2) and Article 172 of the Indian Constitution mandates that the Lok Sabha and state legislative should conduct elections for five years from the date of the first meeting.

JAMILI ELECTIONS CONCLUSION

One Nation one election is a good idea for Indian Polity but its feasibility needs to be truly examined by involving all the stakeholders in debate and discussion also the desired goal of having only one election every five years can't be achieved overnight in prevailing circumstances it has to be achieved in stages.

Moreover, these Jamili elections are good for our country.

In a country like India holding elections on the same day is not feasible to do. We need huge manpower and infrastructure to do so, which is not adequate.

So, it has pros as well as cons. Keeping in view which is good for Our country is required.

Let's hope for the future!
